I've been visiting a Run-N-Gun server the last few days. Mostly because I needed to tune up my situational awareness and aim. RNG is a great place to do both. I'm not going to name the server because it's not important. What I do want to report is something that I experienced that got me thinking about the DB Servers.
This RNG server is VERY popular. The times I've played, there have been 40+ players actively playing. I've played in the morning, afternoon and night and the server is always full. Their mod is Extreme and very similar to ours. I did pretty well considering many of these players play this gaming style all the time.
Two days ago, while playing there, their pings started increasing. Normally, my ping in this server is about 25ms. On this day, my pings were as high as 200 and averaging about 170 or so. When a new map was starting, pings went normal for a few minutes then began climbing. The majority of players in the server wore the clan's tags. They all started lamenting about being 'under attack'. I typed a bit of advice and stated that they should restart their server. This is usually the solution if the problem is not linked to a problematic map. They berated me saying they didn't have the ability to restart the server. I told them if they feel they are under DDoS attack, they should close their console. Again, berated and then accused of causing the issue. I proved that I wasn't the problem by leaving and coming back which didn't solve the problem.
Bottom line, I offered to help and was verbally assaulted by their members. Ridiculed and accused. I witnessed their members berating other non-clan members to the point of threatening banishment if they blocked a member. The server is very click-ish and many of the members are just plain rude.
It got me thinking about DB. For the most part, we are respectful but over the last few months, our atmosphere has become more about bickering and second-guessing the admins. Brand new visitors are not always welcomed in DB fashion. Even seasoned regulars are taking it upon themselves to berate others instead of remembering that it is a game and we're here to have fun. Certainly we're not as bad as this RNG server I visited but I don't want to get to this point. I want to return to the lighthearted, fun DB. If you have an issue, take it up with an admin. Admins, be nice. Barking orders is not fun for the receiving player. Respect others and remember the golden rule....
Thanks for listening to my lamentation.

I have had the same experience. I am an early riser and the server is usually empty so I jump on a run and gun (usually because I cannot find another tactical server). I cannot stay on too long becuase I am so used to the tactical crouch server pace that I get exhausted playing the run and gun. I have played on several servers and I must say that no other server compares to ours. In the few short months that I have been a member I see the clan continue to grow and thrive. It is great to get online and TS with the clan members. I would have never guessed that interacting with a bunch of people I never met could be so enjoyable. I am in full agreement with EM on how great it is to have this group.

A very wealthy, successful woman once told me (and I follow it whenever I remember it) - "half the world is just waiting for the other half to just say 'hello'".
In other words, people normally react accordingly to the way the other person acts -well, most of the time anyways (not always unfortunately). |

As a rater new player on your server ( about 3-4 months) i think that your admins most of the times act very nice.. if a new player joins and run and so, then they tell how the rules is at the server.. If people dont follow the rules the admins are good at warning people before they kick them.. I noticed that sometimes when a player is kicked , he is actually allowed to join again after the kick, and then the admins told the rules again and almost everytime the player that got kicked follows the rules..
The last week or so i started to be on ts with some of you guys/girls.. Its kinda confusing because then you have talk both from server and ts + my ts button is also my nade button lol but im getting used to the double voice system.
People on ts have been nice to me but not so much talk as im used to from my old clan but i guess thats a part of double voice system..
My point with this post, is that if you (People that joins server/ts) are coming with a nice attitude, then you get a good attitude back from all the DB`S |

| Yea, it's always good to say Welcome to the Server to someone you haven't seen before. that encourages people to return and gives them a good first impression. |

| In the "old days", in which Montoya was there, when we were begging for players (well, not begging), every single person that came on the server was greeted with a "hello" and when they left, "thanks for stopping by". The admins "enforced the rules with tactfulness and humility and compassion. That my friends is how DB got it's start to the top. Ego's have no place in gaming. Yes, it is ok to be good and the best, but remember, if there is no one on the server to kill, how can you be the best? |

I begged back in the early days.
I'm begging a specific one right now to return.

| Welcome TryThis to the server. Came on new, needed some rule guidance and has seemed to have respected them from "point blank". Seems like he may turn out to be a real team player. Hope to see him become a regular. If you see him on, say Welcome and maybe we'll have one more member before we know it! |

| It has appeared that as our community grows, we have forgotten our roots and as Dirty mentioned what made us a great server to play on (which got us to the top). The best way to get things back in order is for all us to make a collective effort in welcoming new players and giving them proper direction/guidance. With that being said, and without being disrespectful, I have noticed that sometimes those with SA powers are coming across a little harsh and impatient. However, I think we still have one of the best gaming environments out there! |
